How do preorders work for sellers on Airgoods?
Preorders let you sell products before they are ready to ship. Retailers can place orders in advance, and Airgoods will show them that the product is a preorder before checkout.
Preorders can be set for a product or for specific product variants.
How do I make a product available for preorder?
Go to the product or variant availability settings.
To enable preorder:
Select Available to order.
Select Available only for preorder.
Add a required Ship by date.
Optionally add a Ship by end date if the preorder has a shipping window.
Optionally add an Order by date if retailers should stop ordering before the ship date.
Choose what should happen after the cutoff date.
Save the product.
Retailers will see a Preorder label and, when available, the expected ship date or ship window.
What do the preorder dates mean?
Ship by date is required. This is the date you expect to ship the preorder.
Ship by end date is optional. Use this when the preorder will ship during a range instead of on one specific date.
Order by date is optional. Use this when retailers must place their preorder by a certain date. The order by date must be on or before the ship by date.
What happens after the cutoff date?
The cutoff date is based on the first available date in this order:
Order by date, if set
Ship by end date, if set
Ship by date
You can choose one of three cutoff behaviors:
Available to order
The product or variant stops being a preorder and becomes available for regular ordering.
Available for preorder
The product or variant stays available as a preorder. If the ship date is in the past, retailers may see the ship date as TBD until you update it.
Unavailable
The product or variant is removed from buyer-facing ordering. If no variants remain available to order or sample, the product moves to Draft.
Can I update preorders in bulk?
Yes. Product import and bulk edit files include preorder columns:
Preorder
Ship By Date (YYYY-MM-DD)
Ship By End Date (if range, YYYY-MM-DD)
Deadline To Order (YYYY-MM-DD)
Cutoff Date Behavior
Use Yes in the Preorder column to enable preorder for a row. Preorder rows require a ship by date.
How do preorder orders work?
When a retailer places a preorder, the order appears in your Orders page and is marked as a preorder. You can also filter orders by order type to view preorders.
If a checkout includes regular products or preorders with different fulfillment windows, Airgoods separates them into different orders based on ship timing.
How do I accept or ship a preorder?
When accepting a preorder, confirm the expected ship date or ship window. Airgoods uses that timing to show the retailer when the preorder is expected to ship.
If the ship date changes later, update the expected ship date from the order page. The retailer will be notified.
