How to add your domain to Airgoods

Updated over 4 months ago

As a default, marketing campaigns sent through Airgoods will be sent from an Airgoods domain – [email protected]. By adding your domain to Airgoods, you elevate your brand's presence in your customers' inboxes and significantly improve the deliverability and engagement rates. We strongly recommend sending marketing emails from your own domain.

Follow these steps to add your domain to Airgoods:

Before you start: If at any point during this process, you get stuck or are unable to connect your domain, reach out to us through our live chat or schedule a 20 min support call with our team here.

Step 1: Go to your Domains tab in your Airgoods settings.

Step 2: Click the "Add Domain" button and enter the domain you want to send emails from. If you currently email customers from your main website domain, just enter that. If you have previously added a subdomain (like marketing.yourdomain.com), you should enter that.

Step 3: Click on the domain you just added to view the domain details page. It should look like the one below. You should now see the three DNS records (one MX record and two TXT records) you'll need to add in step 4.

Step 4: Verify your domain (this one's a bit trickier).

To verify your domain, you'll need to add a few DNS records to wherever your domain is hosted.

Think of your domain (like yourbrand.com) as your house and the DNS records as the mailbox and house number. When you send an email, it's like sending out a letter from your house. For your emails to be successfully delivered from your own domain, the internet needs to know where to find your house and that the mailbox actually belongs to you. Adding DNS records is like putting up a mailbox with your house number and proving that it's really your house.

To do this, you'll need to log in to your DNS provider and navigate to the domains page where you can add the Airgoods DNS records. Find below a list of the most common domain hosting websites with links to their FAQs about how to add DNS records to your domain.

The MX and TXT records you see on your domain page you just created (the one that looks like the image above) are the records you'll be adding to your domain's DNS.

Once you have added these to your DNS, just click "Verify Records" in the top right corner of your domain page on Airgoods.

Step 5: Wait for your verification to finish.

Once you've added the DNS records, the DNS verification is in progress. It may take a few minutes or hours, depending on your domain host. You'll receive an email from Airgoods once your domain verification is complete. Your domain details page should now look like the screenshot below:

Your domain will look like like this once it's verified.

Note for new domains:

If you have a brand new sending domain or are new to email marketing altogether, your domain will not have an email-sending reputation yet. Mailbox providers and filter software may consider the age of your domain when determining your trustworthiness as a sender as they lack enough data to show you are reputable and follow deliverability best practices.
